Portrait shoot at the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport
A step back in time: the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport is a sight to see! In a time of cramped seats, less amenities, and people dressed in pajamas, it’s such a joy to step back to the golden age of air travel. This mid-century modern hotel housed in the 1962 TWA flight terminal transports you back! And, it was the perfect location for our family of five portrait shoot.

There were a few challenges in shooting here. First off, no light stands were premitted and using flash was discouraged. Luckily there were large windows with plenty of natural light.

Some of the interesting backdrops included an old timing board, a vintage photo booth, a desk, the waiting area, and even an airplane!

It wasn’t the easiest place to shoot as I really enjoy controlling the lighting by using flash. However, we got some great shots and, most importantly, the boys had fun!
