Asbury Park Wedding Photos using the Nikon Z8 and Sigma 28mm 1.4
The first big event I capured with the then newly released Nikon Z8 full frame camera was a beautiful wedding. Looking back, I’m proud that I used the Sigma 28mm Art lens as much as I did. Usually, I’ll grab a zoom lens to capture a variety of photos. However, I forced myself to use the 28mm as much as possible and I’m so glad that I did.

The lens is sharp and has a particual look, especially if you photograph close to your subject. Also, shooting with a non-zooming prime gives your images a consistent look, perfect for storytelling.

At an f-stop of 1.4, it really makes the main subject pop off the page (screen). It’s also wide enough to show the environment.

One thing to look out for is distortion in straight lines. If you look at the trolly shot above, you’ll notice some. slight bowing of the wood lines. This can be fixed in post production if you wish.

In this entrance shot, my usualy go-to is to go really wide with a 20mm or my 14-30mm zoom lens. However, this shot has much more character than simply capturing the moment.

Everytime I look at my 28mm 1.4 images on the Nikon Z8 I am blown away. It may be large and heavy, but that’s the price you must pay for THE LOOK! Cheers!
